On quiet days in the library I ponder matters of great literary importance. Are people who turn down corners on pages, fiends in human form who should be guillotined? Is it possible to own enough books? Who is the most famous literary bear - Winnie the Pooh, Paddington, Rupert, or Baloo from The Jungle Book?
I vote for Paddington, of course, but this week Bob the Library Bear of Castle Bailey would be in the top three. He may not have featured in any books, but he lives in a library so he counts. Bob is very friendly. He has a tendency to jump off his window sill to engage passersby regardless of age so it’s not unusual to see surprised parents and grandparents giving him a quick hug and putting him back in place.
