Libraries should be all about books but sometimes I’m forced to admit that other ways are possible.

Our art lending programme has been a slow burn, but has gained momentum. There’s something lovely about art from our small collection brightening up the walls of Castle Bailey homes. Mick borrowed a painting for our house, a big abstract canvas by Beth. We’ve decided to save a small amount each month and purchase one of her paintings jointly.

The vinyl record lending collection lured in a few non-readers and I live in hope that they will accidentally discover reading along the way. Perhaps reading the sleeve notes counts?
