I love October. I cycle to work through crisp piles of leaves thanks to the tree-lined streets of Castle Bailey (unless it’s raining in which case I cycle through piles of sludgy leaves). Our children’s events are in full swing with school in session. The book clubs surge with post-summer enthusiasm. The publishing world is busy too, releasing books for the Christmas market. That makes any acquisitions librarian very happy, and very busy.

But the real reason I love October in Castle Bailey Library is that I’ve carefully guided Linda and Boss Lady over a number of years to the point where they allow me to run loads of Halloween events.
