It was raining again this morning, the fifth day in a row. I should have cycled to work regardless. After all I have good waterproof gear but if I was going to be crushed at the Summer Festival garden show I wanted to at least wear the floral summer tea dress I’d bought last month in anticipation. I had to pay a taxi to bring me to work but it would be worth it. Julia’s lovely husband had promised to drive us all home later (the book club gang had decided on a festival night out for pizza).
I met Dad in the garden show tent for the results announcement. Had our library courtyard garden won the prize for Best Garden?
I could call the garden show tent a marquee as it was rather large, but that conjures up notions of floral garlands, flags, and sunshine. This was more of an army...
