Today was one of my more exciting days at Castle Bailey Library. It’s not every day that we are visited by a TV personality. Boss Lady dusted off her best designer handbag and even Linda managed to comb her hair from its usual “dragged through a hedge backwards” mess. Although our guest might have appreciated the whole hedge thing.

Our guest was Don Gutterman. I vaguely knew him thanks to his TV gardening show. My father has been begging me to get the man’s autograph since I announced he would officially open our library’s courtyard garden.

“No, Dad. I can’t be asking him for autographs. It’s unprofessional. Why don’t you come along and ask him yourself?”

“Nina, I couldn’t do that.” His face paled at the thought.
