Mice in libraries can be a real pest. They nibble valuable books but more importantly they destroy the librarian’s secret stash of cookies and cake.

Fortunately this week’s mouse infestation has been resolved, and was of the human variety.

“Hello, can I help you?” A short teenage girl with straight brown hair stood in silence when I glanced up from the stack of this morning’s post. We get a surprising amount of mail at the library. Apparently email hasn’t replaced letters in the library world yet.

She nodded and said something but I couldn’t hear her response. There were two rather noisy brothers running amok in the children’s section.
