The early summer sunshine has been replaced this week with overcast skies and a cold wind. I’m thinking about summer holidays. I’ve booked nothing so far.

As a result when each new library member saunters up to check out -

a beach read romance
a “Learn X Language in Five Hours” course
a travel guide book

I really struggle to plaster a polite smile on my face. I know they’re happy about their upcoming trip. They’ve worked hard all year. For all I know they could be researchers hunting down a cure for cancer and they’re desperate for a break, but all I feel is envy. This is not helped by Boss Lady planning a late summer break to Budapest and Prague as her exotic golf holiday was “so long ago and I’ve so much leave built up”...
