Today was one of my favourite days of the year in the library - World Book Day.

It was, as usual, complete and utter chaos. I thought having a work experience student in to help out might be an advantage, but in hindsight the tall, dark, and brooding Russell may have caused more chaos than he resolved.

After spending his first week in the library creating an amazing giant papier maché brain out of old cardboard boxes, paper scraps, and my dad’s old paint, it seemed only fair to let him do some actual library work for his second, and final, week of working here.

He managed some re-shelving on Monday, helped me to run a craft workshop for the age 4-7 year olds yesterday but today he was moving up to the major leagues. He’d proven to be good with the younger readers,...
