I flicked back through some earlier entries in this diary tonight. I’d totally forgotten I’d planned to learn Italian using the language training set from the library last year. I now owe about three hundred euros in late fees as I found the set under my bed, covered in dust.

I’ll drop it back in tomorrow morning. I’ll override the system to squash the fine. Might not be ethical but I can’t afford that fine on my librarian’s salary.

I did learn one word of Italian that I can still recall - Ciao. It’s super handy as you can use it to say hello and also to say goodbye. This must cause confusion in Italy but I don’t know as I’ve never visited. With the current state of my finances I never will either. My best bet for a free trip will be to re-rea...
