Most days when I come home from the library I feel like I’ve done a good day of work. Putting interesting books into people’s lives is pretty worthwhile as far as I’m concerned. I love interacting with the younger readers particularly. Books have been a brilliant thing in my life and I want to share that with them. Get them hooked young is my motto!

This week that feeling of making a difference was stronger, and aided by books, but rather different from my usual work.

It started on Monday morning. Boss Lady was off at HQ for the day at some training seminar and Linda had taken up residence in the break room. It is even harder than usual to get her to do any work when Boss Lady is out of the building.

Her lack of enthusiasm wasn’t a huge hinderance as the library...
