Some days in the library are routine. Others are chaotic. My favourites are when I get to talk books with another reading addict. It doesn’t matter if the reader is a toddler with their first picture book, a spotty teen and their manga, or an elderly man who loves biographies of generals.

Possibly the worst days are when I battle the printer. Today was one of those days.

“Nina, the printer’s not working.” These were Linda’s first words to me this morning when I entered the building. I was still shaking my umbrella outside the door. it may be springtime in Ireland and the daffodils are nodding in the big flowerpot outside the door, but there’s a reason why the fields of Ireland are so green and that reason is rain. Lots and lots of rain.
