The weekly knit group have risen in my estimation since the delivery of their fantastically bright knitted bunting for our children’s space, but I have yet to warm to the Local History and Genealogy Club. They meet on the last Thursday of the month, and this evening was the first time I met them.
Gerry Daly runs the group. I should have guessed he was going to be awkward when Linda passed me the telephone last week. He was ringing to confirm we had the meeting room reserved for them. I checked the library diary, assured him it was booked, and hung up.
“And so it begins,” said my colleague in a doom-laden voice as she gathered a pile of paperwork in her arms.
