She had the dress and she had already started working on her best man speech, but Beth was worried about her brother’s wedding. Ryan and Meg had asked her multiple times if she was bringing a plus-one and her answer was still no. She knew she would be one of the only people at the wedding without a date.

“I’m not just going to bring someone to bring someone,” she said, shrugging.

“What are you going to do, dance with Dad?” Ryan asked.

“What’s wrong with that?” Meg asked. “That’s sweet.”

“See,” Beth said.

“We’ll put you down as coming with a plus-one,” Meg insisted. “Just in case.”
