The Eighth First Date

“Are you really surprised that your date with the trivia geek didn’t work out?” Jen asked. She leaned back in the pedicure chair and adjusted the massager with the remote control while the nail technician filled the tub.

Next to her, Beth plunged her feet into the warm water. “It’s not that it didn’t work out,” she said. “I made a friend. That’s cool.”

“Tell me about the guy you’re meeting,” Jen said. Beth reached into her purse and grabbed her phone. She pulled up Meet Cute and handed the phone over so that Jen could take a look at the guy. Jen’s face registered approval, her eyes wide and her smile even wider. “He looks promising!”
