“There you go, Vera. Spic n’ Span, just like it used to be.”

The monstrous dragon turned, her red scaled tail sliding across the cavern behind her and nearly knocking over the metal bucket filled with dirty water. She tilted her head. Large brown eyes took in the bare rock walls around her. At the very back, a tall brown haired woman grinned at her. Her hard work had paid off. It didn’t look like there had ever been large white eggs here, or that they’d been reduced to cracked shells and thick blue goo. The memory would always be there. Four perfect eggs, shattered while their mother, their protector, was gone looking for food.

This cave would never be the home that it used to be.
