That night I couldn’t sleep. I just kept thinking about Sam. And as I walked passed his door on my way downstairs to get a glass of water, I couldn’t help pausing. I wished I could go to him. Tell him how sorry I was. But I knew I couldn’t. He’d push me away. Heck, he might even yell at me. And that wasn’t something I wanted to experience.

But more than anything I wanted us to be friends. I didn’t want to spend such a long time with someone that hated me.
