CHAPTER TWENTY

Thalia was nervous. She didn’t know how her parents were going to take it. She was waiting until dinner, hopefully when they sat at the table they’d be more friendly and accepting of her words. She tried to push away the thoughts that told her they might not. Her parents spoke about their days and their plans for the week further. Thalia was quiet, waiting.

“Why are you so quiet, Thalia,” her mother asked. “You haven’t said a word all night.”

She gathered the courage and spoke, “Actually, there is something I wanted to talk about.”

Her parents paused mid-eating and waited for her to speak on.

“Go ahead, we’re listening,” her mother said encouraging.
