DESTINY

I’d been at my parents’ house for a few days and so far it was going well. I couldn’t stop thinking about what Chloe said. About my mother. And somehow I found myself in the kitchen telling her the truth. Telling her how I felt about what happened all these years. We ended up crying in each other’s arms. It would take more than that to heal the hurt but it was safe to say we were on our way there. In all that time that I’d been away from home, my father had left my mother. Knowing she was all on her own here made me feel guilty for leaving. But I knew I couldn’t have stayed. The way it was back then was too toxic. But finally it was over. And both my mother and I could move on and rebuild.
