I dried the last of my tears, waiting for her to continue.
“She wasn’t a mother,” Destiny said. “A mother cares for their children. A mother keeps them safe.”
She looked at me.
“She watched how I was beaten by my so called father and still didn’t leave. I begged her to run away with me but she told me it wasn’t that easy,”
“That she was afraid of what would happen to him if we left. She cared more about that drunk than the safety of her own child.”
