I was called out after class by Miss Patterson.

“What can I do for you, Miss P?”

“Alex, it’s about your test.”

“What about it?”

“You did the worst out of the whole class.”

I shrugged my shoulders, acting as if I didn’t care.

“This isn’t a joke, Alex,” she said. “This test is very important. You might not think so because of basketball, but your grades are important for your future career if basketball fails.

I snorted.

Miss Patterson crossed her arms.

“Don’t count that out just yet. I’ve decided that since you did terribly, it would be best if you made up the marks another way.”

“Like what way?” I asked.
