CHARLIE

I’ve never been the new kid at a school. But I always heard it sucked. And the moment I stood in front of the whole class to be introduced to a bunch of kids that looked at me like I was some kind of freak, I knew exactly what all of those people meant.

“Class, this is Charlie Eberhardt. I want you to make him feel welcome.”

“Welcome Charlie Eberhardt,” the class said in unison in that same mocking bored tone Michael always had. 

I took my seat near the back near the window and took out my English text book.

The teacher talked on about the subject for the day and I hardly listened. I kept looking out the window, wishing I could be anywhere but here.
