We told my parents together and they were really shocked. 

“We didn’t know there was something going on between you,” my father said. 

I acted surprised but inside I felt like screaming. 

“Dad, it’s been going on for months. How could you not have noticed?”

My parents looked embarrassed and I felt my insides calm down again. 

“We must have been a bit too busy,” my mother said. “Well congratulations.”

“Yes, congratulations,” my dad said too.  

“How soon were you thinking of having the wedding?” my mom asked.

“As soon as possible, before the month is over,” Shawn said.
