No sooner had he said that, then Drake emerged from the trees, bleeding from several orifices. I looked at Zias wondering if that was what was hunting us. Drake wobbled and went down and against my normal instinct I ran to him with Zias on my heels.
I knelt down to help him, unsure if this was a trap or even if he was really my enemy. He risked his life to give us the hourglass so we could go back in time and save ourselves. I wasn’t sure if he could remember this. He had been badly beaten and his right eye was swollen shut. His nose was off kilter and bleeding; I guessed it was broken. A gash on his forehead oozed crimson fluid. I opened my mouth to speak to him, but he beat me to it.
