of it as possibly real. It was a heavy thought to wrap my mind around. Then he tried to convince the chick sitting next to me she didn’t exist, and her entire life was a dream. I loved philosophy.

“And these types of creatures, are living and breathing amongst us? They exist? This isn’t just a book of fairytales?” I asked incredulously.

She nodded her head solemnly. “There is more to the world than you and I can ever dare to dream. There are things we will never know nor understand.”

“There’s a color in here I haven’t seen before,” I said slowly, listening to my own voice carefully hoping I didn’t reveal a thing. I couldn’t let her know I knew. I wasn’t really supposed to speak of the things the Elder told me.
