CHAPTER 22

Karen visited her Mum in hospital that evening and she was all apologies for causing such a fuss. Karen told her not to worry. Everything was taken care of, all she had to do was keep her fingers crossed she was okay in the morning and she’d be sleeping in her own bed on Saturday night. She gave her Mum a hug and left.

As soon as Karen had left home to drive to the hospital, Colin had rung Sue Owens on his mobile. She wanted to see him before he went away, but Colin was looking after Sharron so it was not possible.

“What time do you leave tomorrow?” asked Sue.

“Early,” said Colin. “I’ll have to make it up to you when we get back. Perhaps you could come to the office Monday night? It won’t be unexpected if I have to work lat...
