Jack Reddy had not left Minnesota since Billy’s retirement. He expected to spend the remainder of his years in St. Paul with maybe a hunting trip or two in the northern part of the state. However, that all changed when Billy shamed him into starting up his career again.
He sat in Jack Kearns’s New York office located near Broadway. The dark wood paneling had spots of auburn from the lamps lined along it and the carpet was plush. Business was good in the Dempsey camp, better than it ever had been for Miske. Jack Dempsey was a publicity hound and he knew how to work every angle for his name. Kearns had a lot to do with it.
