Chapter 22. Of Byclops and Cyclops

Larry awoke at dawn from a fitful slumber. He was sore all over, from both the rough handling by the Jabber Jaws and from sleeping on the ground. Once the sun had gone down, strong winds swept across the grassy plains, and had swirled around the pit all night making it almost impossible to sleep deeply or comfortably.
Before Larry could even adjust his eyes to the sunlight, he was forced up to a standing position by the guards. They grunted and prodded him over to the ladder. Wearily Larry grabbed the sides of the ladder and began to climb out of the pit.
At the top rung of the ladder he was yanked upwards by several Jabber Jaws to the surface.
