Ki entered the dimly lit chamber. Kal waited patiently at the large circular table that dominated the room. Beyond the observation windows lay a vast network of stars. As architects of time of space, they had the ability to create pockets of time and space accessible only to other architects, in order that their work would not be disturbed.
They were both slender, each almost nine feet tall, with large heads dominated by a single eye. Slit-like gills formed a series of mouth-like openings below the eye.
“To order in the universe,” Ki said, greeting Kal with the traditional architect greeting.
“To order in the universe,” Kal replied.
Instead of sitting down immediately, Ki gracefully walked over to one of the windows.
