The first thing Devil Cat and Imp saw when they entered the Cobalt City morgue was the look of relief on the Commissioner's face. Other police detectives stood in anxious clumps around the room, while the Mayor hovered nervously near the Commissioner. None looked toward the sheet-draped body on one table.

The Commissioner rushed up to them and clutched a hand to his chest. "Thank goodness you've come, Devil Cat. This case has us all shaken."

"We're curious what case this is," Devil Cat said. "We heard nothing on the radio on the way here."

By day, Devil Cat was Thomas Carlton, wealthy man about town. Imp was his faithful companion, Grace Glass. By night, the two concealed their identities behind masks as the Diabolical Duo.
