Imp had been in worse situations with her long-time companion, Devil Cat, but she couldn't think of any right away. At moments like this, she cared less about her own safety compared with her partner's. He was driven by a sense of justice, she by a desire to keep him out of trouble. The last of the Martin Magoo gang stood at the edge of the Quayside roof-top, cornered by the Diabolical Duo. The stench of the river wafted through the air to them, a mix of sewage and chemicals. The summer heat only made the smell worse.

The six thugs readied for the fight. Some cracked their knuckles, others waved the improvised weapons they had scavenged in their attempt to escape. Imp didn't doubt that she and Devil Cat could win, but this would be a long, ugly fight.
