While the children ate their lunch, I stepped outside to call the insurance company on my cell.  It was too noisy to hear inside, and it would take AJ and Cali at least five minutes to eat.  I thought I had at least that much of a safety cushion.  Besides, when they finished, they still had lots of quarters.  I assumed they’d go back to the game room.

The insurance company asked entirely too many questions I couldn’t answer.

Like the insurance carrier and number of the Bayview Police Department.

Like whether Detective Schultz had been on duty when he hit me.
