The Calamity
By Kevin Potter

What if all the ancient stories about dragons were true?

Dauria was never one of the Elders, The Long Sleep wasn't her decision, but she stood by it as the best plan for the salvation of the Earth and its denizens. But when she's awakened from her millennia-long sleep by The Watchers, she has to make a choice:

If she lets The Watchers move forward with a plan to destroy humanity and take back their places in the world, she'll lose everything she once fought for. But she's only one dragon, and not even an Elder. What chance does she have of stopping them?

Author Bio For Kevin Potter:

Kevin Potter is a speculative fiction author currently focusing on his new Dark Epic Fantasy series, The Calamity. The series opens with two prequel novellas: The Fall of an Overlord (04/27/2017) and Rise of the Overlord (07/31/2017).

As an avid reader and prolific writer since elementary school, Kevin always knew he’d be an author.

He spent many years bouncing between various business ventures, from restaurant management to IT, phone-based technical support to building custom computer hardware. But finally, he has returned to his first love: writing.

He wrote his first short story, about a magical pair of shoes, at the age of 9 and has been working on it as a hobby ever since, though only in recent years has he seriously considered making a career of it.

He started writing poetry in 2006 and now has quite a collection. His first publication, Imprisonment, is comprised of what many consider to be his best work, though, due to the theme of this compilation, he had to cut many of his favorites. He intends to issue a more complete poetry publication at some point in the future.

The original idea for the world of Val-Harra and the Calamity series, “Quite literally just dropped in my lap while I was working out some ideas for a fantasy roleplaying game I was designing,” he says, “And it took on a life of its own from there.” He’s been planning the project since early 2012 and has been working hard to get the stories written since late 2013.

He’s also been working on an as yet untitled supernatural suspense series, currently expected to span four volumes, in late 2010 and expects to begin pursuing a traditional publishing deal for the first volume in 2017. For a preview of one of the main characters, keep an eye on the ezine Visitant (visitantlit.com) starting in mid-March 2017.

Kevin lives in Cottonwood Heights, Utah with his wife, 2 daughters, and several dogs.
