“The mist?” Kaira asked, caught off-guard by the announcement. She had thought about the mist since the evil of Lord DuPraye was destroyed, but her heart hoped it would be a while yet before it reappeared.

“You must return to the castle. I will accompany you,” the dragon told her, leading the way out of the cave. Kaira narrowed her eyes, looking in the direction of the castle, and sure enough, she could see a familiar-looking bluish mist forming near the lake’s shore.

“What is it?” Lance asked her.

“The mist has come back,” she told him as Birjanji trotted over to her, Centriar following.
