“Yes, except you forget that Lord DuPraye is rounding up animals for his experiments,” he said. “You could be putting them in grave danger.”

“Oh, I didn’t consider that,” Kaira said, looking down. “I guess I’ll have to think about it more.”

Lance put his finger beneath her chin and lifted it. “You will figure out a way,” he told her with a reassuring smile.

She nodded and he took his finger away to finish brushing Centriar. The two girls turned away and walked off toward their own horses. “Well, I thought it was a good idea,” Shal said.
