Below, Shal watched the gargoyle’s silhouette block out the blue sky above as she soared downward to where they were standing. Of all the crazy ideas, Shal couldn’t help think. A gargoyle as a guide. No one at home is going to believe this—if I ever get back home. No, I can’t think like that. We will find a way out—I hope.
Giska glided to the bottom of the cave and landed before Shal, looking at the redhead with eyes that glinted from her canine-like face.
“Ok,” Shal told her with another sigh. “Lead the way.”
The gargoyle began walking into the mountain and Shal followed her, still rubbing her sore muscles. Runley walked beside her, his hooves echoing on the rock floor.
