Lord DuPraye watched the door close, leaving him and the king alone. How much longer must he endure this waiting, he asked himself with a tinge of anger. What right did this man have to keep him from his destiny? His fingers itched to grab a pillow and end the old man’s suffering. It wasn’t likely that anyone would hear the struggle he thought, but resisted the temptation at the image of Lord Shephold just outside the door. While he knew most of the men would follow his orders, he was aware that others resented his presence. If any of them suspected that he killed King Theodore, his plans could fail. He must remain patient just a little longer.
