Shalebra sat on the petite stone bench to catch her breath. After wandering aimlessly around the keep, she stumbled into the small, private garden on accident. Being isolated from the flurry of activity occurring throughout the stone edifice, it offered a perfect place for her to sit and think. This cannot be happening, she told herself, recounting her conversation with Kaira earlier that morning. Her mind still couldn’t accept it. What was she thinking?

Her hands curled into fists as she stared at a small bird nearby. She wanted to hit something—never in her life was she so angry. She took a deep, shaky breath. Mostly, she wanted to find that weird mist and get back to her life. She didn’t belong here and neither did Kaira. Why did this happen? Why?
