“Daniel is our finest carpenter. He made the furniture in your rooms,” Prince Alexander told them.
Kaira smiled. “Really?” She looked at Daniel. “I’ve never seen such beautiful furniture. You have a real gift with wood.”
Daniel beamed with pride.
Moving on, they went to the candlemakers, where a dozen or so workers were busy making wax and tallow candles. “They must make at least 15,000 candles a day to keep the castle well-lit,” King Alfred said.
“The people are so friendly,” Shal said, looking up from watching one worker dipping the candles. “They seem to really enjoy their work.”
