“My parents died when I was young. I don’t have any brothers or sisters.”

“It is a sad thing to be alone,” King Alfred said in a somber voice and Kaira looked at him questionably. “I had a sister, but she became ill and died. It was a difficult time for my parents and I.”

“I’m sorry.”

The king smiled at her. “It happened many years ago. Do not be sad Lady.”

“Do you have other children besides Prince Alexander?” Kaira asked.

King Alfred shook his head. “No. I had to wait a long time for Alexander to be born. We knew we would have a son, though, for it was foretold.”
