“If we all leave, what will become of her? She will be completely isolated. I cannot allow her to be left friendless in such times as these. She has made poor choices, but I will not abandon her because of them.”

Fleming sniffed. “In that case, Seton, I bid you farewell. I have spoken to Livingston and she too will be leaving the Queen’s service. I do not know what Beaton will wish to do, but I cannot imagine that she will wish to stay after what has happened.”
