in the area. After being given intravenous fluids and examined by nurses, blood tested, and electronically monitored, there was nothing found to be physically wrong with him. He was not the victim of food poisoning or an infection, nor had he suffered an asthma attack or heart failure. He had no special medical history to consider, nor was he allergic to anything – at least not anything he had been exposed to. All that the doctors could definitively state was that he was in some sort of coma, and for at least the foreseeable future, showed no signs of coming out. He had suffered some sort of shock, thought the officer; something had made him that way.
