Jamie couldn’t exactly tell, but it seemed like she smiled. “My name is Lin,” she replied in a broken sort of way.

            “How long have you been on this bus?” Jamie asked.

            Lin shook her head. “I don’t know. When I woke up, I saw they had taken my things. I don’t have my watch or phone.”

            Jamie checked around her immediate area and too realized that her purse was gone, and so was her phone. She never wore a watch, though.

            “I’m glad you speak English.” She rubbed a spot between her shoulders with her free hand. “...
