opened, the man disappeared in the sea of people that flooded in and out of the train. Some of those that had been there to witness their little drama shot her disapproving looks as they left. Those that remained went back to the comfort of their conversations or their smartphones, leaving her along with her thoughts. She looked down at the crumpled photograph in her hand; she had crushed in even more in her excitement. She unraveled it as best she could, trying to smooth it out on the front of her dress.

There were three people in the photo; A young woman sitting on a chair with a child on her lap, and an older man behind them. The man was maybe in his late thirties or early forties, she thought – at least, that’s what it looked like. The woman seemed to be a teenager, maybe seventeen...
