Chapter Twelve

A bit of research had led Mia to a central part of Paris where her mother had worked as a cabaret dancer. She booked into a small guest hotel opposite the aging theatre. She had wanted a bit of background information to prepare herself before she contacted her. She wanted to imagine what her life was like, where she lived, what she did for work. What she was like. She’d found out that she had worked at the theatre about nine years ago and had been married to the theatre owner. The theatre had changed hands and was in decline, and perhaps under threat of closure. If funding wasn’t found to complete necessary structural work, the theatre may well collapse.
