Dave Wilson had never seen anybody as smartly dressed as Francis Gittins. The shoes were so well shined you could have seen your reflection in them. That suggested ex-military. The next thing you noticed about him was the fresh buttonhole. That seemed a bit odd for a man in his forties. Was Gittins young enough to be a ‘young fogey’? Or was it just the way a man of his class dressed? The clean-cut trousers; the waistcoat; the sports jacket. None of this stuff was from Marks and Sparks, was it? Expensive stuff, especially for a man who didn’t seem to have a job.
