It’s a little hard to sleep these days

I get the case of the midnight mumbles

I give up my sleep

For my imagination’s appetite

Has to constantly be fed

My mind is working overtime

So, I give it what it needs to thrive

I wake up and have to write

Then after I hope there is silence

Waiting for me in my bed
