Shine from eyes

Tense lips hum familiar tunes bottled up in the heart

Sapphire Blues

Clickety clack of high-powered shoes on concrete

Hushing sighs from a long day of work

The squeal of wheels peeling out of driveway

Floating down pale gray highways

Life’s a blur

Got a sack of laundry to do

Sweat drips from wrinkled forehead

Folding socks static clinging

My battery needs charging

Lay weary head down on feather pillow

Across town shutting out

Undone tasks trying to rip their way through
