The sun beat down on Traverse Street with all the fury of a southern summer. A brown 1996 Buick Lesabre pulled up to a red house with the only green lawn on the block. Most of the other homes had lawns that appeared to have been dead for weeks, the victim of a harsh summer and homeowners who had given up on their horticulture.
The green lawn had a flowerbed to the left with Tulips, Magnolias, and Marigolds all through it. There were a few glass ornament on the other side of the house, including a large purple orb half full of water.
Bethanie Lewis climbed out of her vehicle. She felt the warm rays of the sun hitting her flowing blue sundress. Her matching blue heels clicked on the pavement as she walked up toward the door.
