They were led into the center of the room and Tania studied the solid walls, the high windows, and the veritable army above. Cold, hard faces stared down at her. She might as well be in a death pit. She shivered at the thought, wondering if she and Thayne would be executed on the spot or if this farce would continue.

The High Priests were all muscled, intimidating men. Save for one. The oldest, most shriveled priest sat in the center of the dais. His chair was higher, larger, and more ornate than the rest. Though the priests often voted to make decisions, Tania knew the shriveled one would carry the most weight. He was obviously the elder. By the sneer on his face, that was not good for her or her misguided Knight.

“You have been brought before us today,” the shriveled one said...
