Turning to look at her, he realized she was watching him solemnly from her helpless position on his cot. She wasn’t afraid- of course not. The woman had walked away from decapitation, death, and resurrection with barely a scratch on that hard mental armor. He was unwillingly impressed again. As he entered the tent and sat on the cot across from her, he realized how strange it was to have her tied up in what was basically his bed. Odd that it hadn’t occurred to him before. Clearing his throat and mind, he glanced outside to ensure they were not being spied upon.

“Okay,” he murmured as he looked at her again. “How did you know how to fight it? Thank you for the warning, by the way. Too bad Simmons didn’t listen.”
